Here's something you don't see too often.
Seller took a BVG 8 OPC Gretzky rookie and sent it to a loser company
in Canada to get a .5 bump LOL

  • Are they in Canada ? I have never even heard of this grading company. Card was either trimmed or cut from a uncut sheet to begin with anyways.

It gets better. That's the same loser company that "graded" the infamous John Cobb and Ray Edwards fake T206 Wagner last year (the one with the wrong font on the front where they accused people of being racist for pointing out it's a bad fake).

  • Yea, they're in Canada. Been out for the past 6 months with ridiculous submission price.
I have to admit that I have not seen a 10 in their holder yet. Maybe the seller thought
he could get an easy 10. Yes I agree that the edges are perfect and why BVG graded it in the
    first place.

Wow, my first assumption was that it was "crossed" simply to promote someones grading company en devour. But it doesn't look like it, even though the seller and grading company are pretty close geographically. Nice to see a grading company finally bust out the hotly demanded NGM grade.... You need to read this with a french lumber jack accent in your head...

First of all, we examine your trading card thoroughly in order to proceed to it's authentication. In the world of collectibles, several cards were the target of fraud and counterfeiting (reprints) and this is why it becomes important to call on us. After, a senior ACA grader will give your item(s) a grade on a scale from 1 to 10 to identify the quality of the item.

It's more fun with a Monty Python Lumberjack accent.

  • You have to remember that people in Canada do not like submitting to PSA because of the long journey to California. Then you get screwed from the customs. They go by insured value when they come back to you. This has turned many people off into sending to PSA.
I live next to Detroit so i just rent a P.O.Box. But when i pick-up my card orders i still get pulled over and have to explain to them that i'm not paying duty on the declared value because i already owned the cards. Last i checked there's no duty for card grading. Most of time i have no problems but other times i have to insist on seeing there supervisor which just gets them angry so next time i'm sure they remember me and just pull me over just to be an a$$ hole.

You DO owe duty (when applicable which they never charge since the cards were made in North America) and taxes on the GRADING FEE's, you are correct about not owing on the declared value. Check the CBSA website, it's literally listed as Grading fee's. It really isn't much... on $200 cost to PSA I pay $26. Not worth pissing off CBSA about (considering what they can do within their rights).

Ooh, do you have a link to the story? I wanna see lol
  • I believe they charge taxes on the grading fees, not really the duty. But when you come across the border with a declared value of 12,000-15,000.00 and you get a customs officer thinking he is going to charge you taxes/duty on the 12,000-15,000.00 dollars and you are telling him i don't think so buddy it kind of p_sses him off to say the least.

    NY Daily News article

Take anything from O'Keefe with a few grains of salt - he loves to bash PSA.
