<< <i>I was in the Post office two days ago and saw this Fedex guy talking to the post office manager and handing her a package. I was kinda pissed because i thought when it was me trying to get Fedex to deliver an item to my P.O. Box they said No Sorry we can't deliver to a USPS PO Box.I ended up eventually cancelling this particular order... So i thought she got an exception since she was the manager. Good to know it was not the case and i could now have Fedex or UPS deliver to my P.O. Box. Thanks for sharing this info.
The new service will be available only to P.O. box renters, and the items which have been addressed/delivered to the street address of the branch where the box is rented will be placed in a lock box that will accommodate parcels which can't physically fit into the P.O. rental box. The P.O. box renter will be required to have a signature on file for delivery of numbered articles to the lock box, which can be accessed with a key that will be placed in the rental P.O. box along with the delivery notice. Some branches will not offer this service
because of lack of space for the new lock boxes. The service is more of a convenience for box renters at branches that have limited hours, than anything else. It may also alleviate long waits in counter service lines at branches that are understaffed because of cutbacks.

This service has 3 options which you can sign up for:
1. Receive Fedex or UPS packages at your PO Box using the post office street address
2. Put your signature on file so that the post office can put your package in a lock box which you can pick up without waiting in line.
3. Receive a text or email message that you have mail in your PO Box.
I signed up for #1 and #3. I was wary of #2 because I didn't want to leave my signature on file which could cause problems.
I am looking forward to having my US Mint purchases shipped via Fedex/UPS to my PO Box. I think this will save up to a week from the current process due to the hand-offs between the US Mint -> Fedex -> USPS. I also feel a little more secure because I have read all the posts about packages being left on the driveway, door steps, etc.

Definitely do NOT do this. It likely absolves the PO of any liability once they sign the package out for you. You also will not have the opportunity to refuse delivery before signing in case you receive a package that appears to have been rifled. The other two new features I think are pretty cool. I'll get to sign up for them when my box renews at the end of the month.
