OT: Tax programs?

My tax usual guy has retired so I need to find another option.

Has anyone used any of the DIY tax programs? Any suggestions?

If you itemize or own your own business, you are better off finding a CPA. If you have a basic return with only W2s or 1099s then Turbotax works well and it's cheap.

Just basic tax return. Work for a company, wife, house, no kids.

Doesn't H & R Block offer free tax returns on basic filings?

Turbo Tax all the way. I have used it for over 10 years.

Taxact.com....cost $17 for both state and federal...That includes electronic filing...Good Luck

Turbo Tax (multiple options to meet every need). If just the baic 1040EZ, H&R Block does them for FREE

For a basic return as you described I have to 2nd the recommendation for taxact.com.

I used Turbo Tax for several years and it was OK, but not great. Last year I used TaxSimple, which was a pain. This year I used H&R Blocks online service and it was great.
