Need some help identifying Medal....Any experts out there?

Good afternoon, does anyone know the origins of the below medal?

A coworker told me his uncle obtained it in the 1960's. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

A papal medal for Pope Julius II commemorating the construction of the new St. Peter's Basilica based on the original design by Bramante. When this design was originally struck in 1509, the construction work had been ongoing for three years. The original medal was by Gian Cristoforo Romano, though yours appears to be a restrike from copy dies created at a later date (second half of the 18th century). This design was then restruck for many years for sale to collectors and tourists.

Iosephus is da' man for Papal material. I would agree that your piece appears to be from the latter 18th century. -Dan

The best possibility would probably be this site: http://numismatica-italiana.lamoneta.it/cat/W-SPMLD

However, the site still has some ways to go, and even then, I do not think it would provide a real replacement for a proper set of modern reference books. Unfortunately, for these pieces, that involves several rather pricey books. The CNORP (Corpvs Nvmismatvm Omnivm Romanorvm Pontificvm) set of 4 books by Adolfo Modesti covers the beginning through 1621, and a set of three volumes by Walter Miselli (Il Papato dal ... : Attraverso le Medaglie) covers 1605-1730. Several other books are then necessary to cover more recent medals.
