Group rip hits

Just curious what are some of the biggest group rip hits ever pulled on this board. Not necessarily just rookies from random years but also cards that graded high and had a high return when sold.

1975 O Pee Chee Hank Aaron PSA 8.5 is probably my best pull strictly coming from the group rips.

  • Morning,

First Group rip 1985 Payton #33 PSA Mint 9, sold for $150 or so, second group rip, two 1978 Dorsett Rookies same pack, both PSA MINT 9's, sold for about $170-$180 each, another rip, 1986 Payton GEM MINT 10, Pop 6, sold $280, and some other random few hundred dollar each stuff, but when you add up the many thousands I've spent, its for the Rip Addiction, not to make money!!

I pulled two 1975 OPC PSA 10 commons from the same pack that sold pretty well on ebay last year. I forget for how much, but more than paid for the pack.

if this is not the best, it's gotta be up there.

on '80/81 basketball pack rip, I got a pack with --yup--the Bird-Magic rookie on top. Had it slabebd and graded by PSA--noting the card on top=--PSA-8.

Gotta be worth a bit more than the $30 it cost me for the pack

Many of the packs I get I don't rip. However, what I have opened from group rips, the highlight would be an '84 Marino RC that graded 9. Hopefully I'll also get some 9s and 10s on commons from the recent '75 mini group rip. I also got a '73 wax pack with Clemente and Rose showing on top/bottom from when Felicia sold some of her packs. That one's at PSA right now for slabbing.

I brought that up on Friday, in an other post and the post went POOF -- not for the card, but how the grading came to be. <wink-wink>

My biggest was of course the '76 Payton I pulled from a cello a few years back that graded a PSA 9!

Although not high grade, I would also have to mention the Staubach Rookie I pulled from a '72 wax pack a year or so ago. It was too mis-cut to grade however image

I've only pulled one PSA 10 to date, and it was only an '85 sticker of Montana.

Still waiting to pull an '81 Montana and an '86 Rice...

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

1979 Passing Leader PSA 9 card #1 - traded for a 1984 PSA 9 Rickey Jackson Rookie just the other week. Card came from Gary's BS rip. Pack was searched. But his left this nice guy.
1986 Ezra Johnson PSA 10 Kept for my collection
1982 Chris Collinsworth PSA 10 sold for $30 or so

I have only done two group rips.

NICE Ryan Cuda! I've seen many of that exact card with creases right down the middle straight from packs.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

I coordinated the '75 OPC group from about a year and a half ago. LOTS of nice cards came from the 3 boxes we broke!

I personally pulled all three of these:

... all of these came as well. I pulled the Biittner, the others I submitted after buying raw lots from others in the rip...

I just pulled some nice 72 football that have yet to be graded. Mainly gradeable commons and semistars with a OC Staubach. Two of the wax packs have stars showing, Unitas and O.J. Simpson. I'd imagine they are at least double what I paid for them now. I have many, many Topps Mini's and OPC that have yet to be graded. I have pulled a Montana, Rice and Marino rookie cards. All likely PSA 7 or 8ish.
