<< <i>I would absolutely love to own it. Unfortunately timing isn't great cash wise although ....not cash rich just coin rich....does Laura Sperber of Legend Numismatics take trades? >>
I'm sure they would consider some nice material as partial trades on a coin like this. That coin is a real rarity, and used to reside in a 66 holder if I am not mistaken.

The facts were, In the 5/96 Eliasberg Auction, where it was raw, Dave Bowers & Co. graded it Proof-66. We know how many of the Eliasberg pieces were overgraded to say the least, still that takes nothing away from a great H10c. It woul dbe an honor and a priviledge to be the caretaker of such a specimen. >>
Thanks for clarifying. If it was overgraded at 66, it might now be undergraded at 64
Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Do you think if I convince realone to buy it, she would cut me a break on the 1880 quarter (from their description I believe it is the PCGS plate coin).

The early seated proofs are a very esoteric market, the small half dimes especially so.

From what I saw, QDB's Eliasberg catalog grades tended to be on the conservative side. It was what grades the TPG's bestowed on many of them after the sale that wasn't so conservative. if fact one of the dealer's I dealt with suggested that since so many Eliasberg coins were getting great grades from the TPG's (early 1997) that it would be a great time to submit some of my older holdered stuff as well. Imo Pittman/Eliasberg marked a change in grading standards. Up to Eliasberg I had tracked less than 20 gem New Orlean mint seated quarters over a 20-25 yr period. In that sale, a number of N.O. seated quarters came out as MS65-67. In hindsight, only a few of them deserved the higher grades.

I was wondering why you had questioned Kennedy Halves!

The coin is not yet marked HOLD. I suspected that it would be on its way to the Pacific Northwest by now.
I suspect that the negotiations are ongoing.
Good luck, Realone!

TDN, the 18th/19th century dollar king going for a tiny, rare date early half dime in PF64? That'll be the day.
Now that I think of it, realone just picked up a MS64 1840 nd half dime that is probably as well struck as this proof.
