2009 Proof gold Buff question

ponderitponderit Posts: 1,544 ✭✭✭✭✭
This may be the wrong forum but I have a simple question, actually 4. My proof buff has developed a small reddish purple spot on the obverse. What is causing it, will it get worse, and will it keed it from grading? I assume it would grade but kill any chance it might have at 70?
Thanks,
Bill

    1. Mint Employee Contamination, ie cough, sneeze.
    2. Yes
    3. No
    4. Yes

I had a 4 piece 2008 ms set. The $50.00 and the $5.00 developed what I called Buffalo Pox.
I watched them over 18 months get larger, just like a cancer.
I sold them, just to get rid of them.

    What a bummer!!

If they were slabbed 70s you could send them in for spot review. Being raw, I'd sell.

I thought that this was much less common in Buffs as they are .999 pure.

Must be contamination from The Mint.

I've still got a sealed set of proofs and uncs. When I sell them I certainly hope that they don't have spots.
