Do you wish PCGS put the coin's grade on the TrueView?

No. A picture of a coin is a different form of art than a coin ... and the two grades may be completely independent of each other. For example, I grade this image PR70!

No. There really is no need to clutter the image with any additional information which can be found on the cert lookup.

No. It's about the aesthetics of the coin. Let it not be marred by number.

A certified grade is a generic form of representation......for each coin....in hand, however you might feel clueless about that.

Of course. It's "the rest of the story". It's what PCGS does. It's why you sent it to them in the first place.

Opinion on this seems pretty divided. Theoretically it could be possible for our internal system to automatically place the grade into the image once it's been finalized, and to have it change on subsequent regrades.

On the other hand people are use to how these images look. I remember I tried to change the whole template a couple of years ago and there was too much of a backlash so I changed it back (sort of, it was slightly modified for larger images).

A poll on this topic would be interesting. I would like the grades on them, but can see the argument for both sides. If you're sharing a picture, just share it for the beauty of what it is, without people analyzing the coin for "Why is that a 63?" If there were a way to have it both ways and to even have the certification number be copy-able would be enough, as I often wonder the grade, but rarely take it the next step of typing in the cert. number.

Realone's recommendation of having it linkable from the photo...a discrete "Click here for grade" would be my ideal...but recognize challenges of that...but I'd guess some smart HTML folks could figure out how to do it. image

And other "what's this?" clickable icons that not only gives the grade but also the pop, price fetched, auction venue, whether the coin's value was bid up solely for registry points...........

I'm for no grade on the photo.
Initially, a few years back, I was in the "it should be there" crowd.

However, coins get sent back in and regraded and grades can change. Someone saves a pic, it has a grade on it, the coin gets regraded later and the grade changes, and there could be confusion.
It could also make the coin harder for a seller to move, down the line. Some may be ok with that but it may not even be the person who had it regraded who is selling or having problems.

So, my vote would be for "no".

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

It mighjt screw everything up if the coin gets upgraded or earns a new "plus" designation, after the origional photo was taken. Probably best to leave the grade off.

You've never have turned down a coin in a MS67 holder? I've done it a lot. No matter what holder or grade. If the coin doesn't meet my standards, I'm not going to accept it. So a grade on these Trueviews in meaningless!
