75 mini help

Please forgive the noob question. As I've mentioned before, I've readied my first ever sub to Psa, which will be smallish. I am now working on putting together a larger sub. This sub's contents will not be finalized until I get the results of the 1st sub back so as to familiarize myself more with Psa's standards (thanks for advice, certain board member).
I didn't include any 75 mini's in my 1st sub so I figured I'd ask for you guys' opinions on something. I recently joined VCP and have been checking out the images of some past 75's sold. I just can't get a feel for how multiple minor centering issues will affect the grade on particularly 20-25 singles that I own, most with razorish corners, but all with slight right to left and top to bottom centering. I've included a scan of the front and back of a couple of the minis that represent well the condition of the group in question. I guess I should add that I'm shooting for 9's. Is this far-fetched? Thanks so much for the help!

I think 8's at best. The Madlock has a slight diamond cut but both may be a little too OC to get a 9 even though they may technically meet PSA's standards for centering on a 9.

both look t/b oc to me... they are very tough on mini's and not worth it unless you are very good at subbing cards.

The Madlock is OC T/B. The Foote is also OC but less so. I think you have a great shot at an 8 on that one.

Thanks for the input guys... it seems like I do have a lot to learn! I would also be satisfied with 8's for my PC so I will probably sub a few that tend closer to the Foote. Unfortunately, the Yount I own, if I recall, favors the Madlock's t/b centering Thanks again for the help.

You say that the corners are razorish. Are you sure? Have you looked at each corner under a 10x loupe? I know that when I was new, the corner standards surprised me. Before I was a member I remember looking over and over at a card of mine thinking that I should submit it, because it is definitely a 10. Now when I look at it, I think it would probably get a 7, maybe an 8.

One other question that may help the OP and one I am interested is how to spot a shorty. I know there was an extensive discussion in the orginal mini thread on the registry forum but that thread was taken down. What are the criteria for identifying a shorty? Is it just the standard 'Min Size' definition?

The only naturally "short" color combos out of the packs are the red (top) yellow (bottom) and green (top) yellow (bottom) cards. There are also naturally "long" color combos like tan (top) and blue (bottom) cards.

So the shorts that got all the discussions previously were manmade? Sorry I didn't really follow the thread that closely as I'm not a focused mini set builder/collector. Thanks.
