Joining coin orginizations

sparky64sparky64 Posts: 7,065 ✭✭✭✭✭
Last year I joined PAN.
I had read that they were key in keeping sales tax away from coin purchases in Pennsylvania and I wanted to support that.
It's the only club/orginization I belong to. I doubt that I'll ever get to one of the conventions because of the long travel.

Now I'm contemplating joining the ANA for no paticular reason.
Any thoughts on this or any other orginizations that I should consider?

It depends on what you collect. If you have interests in Capped Bust coinage, join the John Reich Collectors Society--it sponsors a worthwhile journal. If you are interested in early coppers, the EAC would be VERY important---its journal, Penny-Wise, is probably the best of the specialty numismatic journals.

If you like Carson City coins there is the Carson City Coin Club. www.carsoncitycoinclub.com Unfortunately they closed their forum, but it is still there to read and for $40 a year you get 4 journals. All member contributed articles.
