PCGS account information system suggestion

When you send in a submission to PCGS, all it does is let you know that it has been logged and shipped.

I think for a well-established company like Collector's Universe, you should be able to see a complete listing of all of the coins you submitted once it has been entered into the system. This way you can check for errors.

It would also be nice to have adjectival status updates as to which part of the process your submission is at.

It's not something that would deter me from sending coins into PCGS, but I think that it would be a nice touch.

How do you feel?

Greg

I have suggested the same, in the past, kind of like the Domino's Pizza Tracker.™

Thanks for the idea. A Wisconsin Six Cheese deep dish, garlic dipping sauce, and some chocolate lava cakes on the way. "Troy" is firing it up in the oven, or so the Domino's Pizza Tracker says. image

Yes, I would like to know how my sizzling, $3.00 PL gold coin is along with my order of cheesy sticks!

I'm just a guy who likes to collect coins, but it seems to me like this business is ripe for little bar code stickers and scanners at each station. With a little work, we'd all be able to see exactly where our coins are in the process, which would be awesome.

Of course, then we'd all just complain that a coin took too long at any given station image

This information could also be used by Don Willis to crack the whip where it needs to be cracked.

My guess is that they already have an internal tracking system, and he knows if, when, and where the whip needs to be cracked. image

Last I heard submissions are placed in flips. To assign individual bar codes to the flips with the order number and coin identification would require a lot of work.

I suggest PCGS create the ULTRA submission and allow for individual tracking of each submitted coin, if you want to pay for it.

    There's a cost to everything.
Given the % of times that the current system works without errors, what is it worth to everybody to have PCGS redo their systems and divert their IT staff to it?
It's always easy to pick apart a system from the outside, but without understanding the cost to implement, one should be careful. We don't need another USMint type of situation here, right?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Then why does their competition do it for comparative services? Again, that's NOT (repeat NOT) going to dissuade me from sending in a coin, but I think it's a nice touch that could be implemented within reason and without added cost.
