Unknown Silver Coin

Okay so this is kind of a trick question but can anyone tell me what this coin is (host coin)??

At first I thought it was an 8 Reales but the edge doesn't look like it to me? I just weighed it and it weighs 26.83 grams.

I bought it because I thought its kind of neat. I haven't seen a coin with this many chopmarks before. You would think one of the people testing it would have seen the hundreds of other ones and not bothered testing it again

It is also concave in shape as most of the marks are to one side.





I can just about make out some letters. There looks like what is a BU or PU on one side and a something I on the other?

That is a lot of chopmarks.

The I looks to be a Roman numeral along with another I. I'll presume it is 38mm or so.

Maybe the different mints used different edge markings.

Right you are. It could be "Carlos III". Perhaps someone can chip in on the edge?

The edge is that of a Mexico Republic 8 Reales. Pretty cool coin. Doubt you'll be able to identify the mint.

Thanks for clarifying that Roman. You right of course, I doubt I'll never know where it was minted but what really appealed to me is the number of people it must of belonged to as shown by the number of chop marks. If coins could only speak...
