Pound for pound (or dollar for dollar), possibly the best bang for the buck to satisfy my ripping ne

I've been opening a lot of high end vintage and/or 70's stuff here lately so I thought I'd change it up a bit when I saw this little gem. Looking at VCP, this set has 41 cards with an average VCP of over $20. I realize some of those were probably pop 1's and might not go as high, but looking at the POP report I see that the set still has 75 cards that are POP 0's! Not to mention the fact that I'm gonna get to look at 72 racks that may have Clemens, Puckett, Hershiser, Ryan, Ripken, Mattingly, etc....showing on top or bottom. I think for the price, this may be a good rip !! It will at least be a fun one. I'll share it when it gets here.

  • Would you sell the star packs separate and crack the rest for 10's or what is your plan to recoup as much as possible (and hopefully profit)?
  • Great Pickup! Thats the price that Steve has gotten for the last two he's had for sale

yes, keep the star pack intact and rip the rest, only subbing the cards that might benefit from getting graded (ie...ones with VCP's over $15 or $20 and all of the POP 0's and possibly POP 1's). This has served me pretty well in the past.
  • Yeah,,, Hopefully you get some of those pop 0's to be pop 1's... Probably get $100-$150 for them.... Who knows maybe more if there are 85 hardcore collectors?

I saw that he currently doesn't have any but has random '85 rack packs priced individually at $8 with no star so I figured $5.16 each was pretty fair especially since I get a shot at some star packs. Hell, I've been ripping packs that cost more than this whole case, lol.

yeah, I haven't even checked the registry on '85 Donruss. Maybe I should just try to become the '85 Donruss King and go for the #1 set, lol.
  • I totally think you should try to be the '85 Donruss king.
