OT: Just bought an Epson v330 Scanner...

I rememberd a few guys on these boards had this scanner or a similar version as well.

Am I missing something or do these machines not auto-crop the image for you? I've been looking and I can't find anything that would make the scanner do that on its own. Also, if I wanted to crop the photo without losing and of the resolution, how would you do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From what I can tell, it will only auto-crop the "preview" scan, and it will not auto-crop individual cards within the same scan.

What do you mean by "auto crop"? To crop a scan I use my graphics program, not the scanner.

Do you mean locates the image and scans just that portion of the available scanning area? If that's what you mean, there is a box on the upper left corner of the preview screen that says "Marquee" under that there are a few more boxes, the one on the bottom left should say "Automatically locates the image" once you preview the item, you should get a dotted line you can drag wherever you want.

    Hope this helps.

I usually scan 5 graded cards at a time and use Paint Shop Pro to crop&save. It's quick and easy.
  • Thanks for the help guys. Got it all figured out. The scans are amazing. Can't wait until my ebay buyers can see exactly what they are buying! image

Glad you got it figured out. It is a good feeling when your item shows up the way it really looks.

I would imagine there's something there that should let you crop your scan in "preview" mode - and then final scan.

Now - if you can't find it - keep in mind - if you are using photobucket - which I use - you can crop it there:

and if you use this feature under "edit" - after cropping, I recommend the AUTO FIX (just press) - in most cases, it really makes a difference in the color depth.
