Beautiful coin. Not too sure about the original packaging with COA's or paperwork though. I don't think the Royal Mint sold them like that.

AFAIK Churchill crowns were released through banks and post offices.
That box looks like the ones used for the 1951 Festival of Britain crowns. They came in red and green versions.

What does the box lid look like?

I have a 1965 PCGS MS-64 I bought from you. Somewhere or the other I have another raw 1965 I have owned for some time, just not sure of where I have stashed the Crown. At my age I tend to forget. I am trying to get one in MS-65 but they don't show up very often.

I have a 1960, New York Exibition in MS-66, pop of 4/1. Need the '53 in PCGS skin but they don't show up very often either.

I never saw one of those in 3 years attending many coin fairs and visits to all the coin, stamp and antique shops I could get to.

No the churchill crowns as released from the mint did not come boxed. The banks got them in bags and they were put into various slides and other pouches with the banks etc. logo on them, hense the abrasions and bag marks they are well known for. The satin proofs may have been boxed but I've never seen one with it original packaging.
