In reading the book "WILLIE MAYS" I found out.......

This is a very good book and I am about half-way through.

I had no idea that the San Francisco Giants were actually
very close to being the "MINNEAPOLIS GIANTS".

It seems that the mayor San Fran convinced the Giants
owner that there should be 2 teams on the west coast
and that it was already a NY rivalry, why not make it a
west coast rivalry? And so it was.........

Just a fantastic book....great read

    After the move to San Francisco there were two other times the Giants were a heartbeat away from moving. In the 70's the Giants almost moved to Toronto and in 1993 they were stopped by a last-ditch effort to keep them away from Tampa. Both the Rays and Blue Jays owe their existence to failed Giants moves.
