Thanks crypto79. I used to have a picture of a toilet paper tube duct taped to a Hello Kitty kid's camera. Can't find it. I may have been the only one that got a laugh from it anyway. I hold a compact digital camera (Olympus D-40Z, 4meg) up to one lens of a stereo microscope. The eyepiece is 15x and the lens 2x, so I get 30x magnification. There is one light on the side.
I like VAMs/close ups too. Here's an 1878-CC Morgan from the Amon Carter Collection. The variety is listed as "Top 100 VAM" Number 20 (1878-CC, Lines in the Eagle's Wing). The photography is courtesy of Todd Pollock (BluCC Photos).
I spent hours and hours and hours going through and looking at and for VAMs on around 400 Morgans and Peace dollars I bought as 90%. Most were AU with many UNC, it was almost like the days when I was a kid going through change. That was something I really enjoyed; so much so that I went out and bought my first DSLR and a macro lens. Even with a good camera and lens I can not get pictures like yours. Those are great.
Remember, I'm pullen for ya; we're all in this together.---Red Green---
