Does anyone know what the "E" on Liberian ..

Does anyone know what the "E" on Liberian coinage (when noted by NGC on their labels) stand for, i.e. 1889E or 1890E,
is it a mint mark denoting the place that it was minted, like the U.S. D for denver?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Liberia issued no coins in 1889 or 1890. They did, however, issue lots of patterns. I assume it's an indicator of it being a pattern coin (like, short for "essai" or something).

Thanks Sapyx for the info its appreciated. I love those early Liberia patterns. I have been trying to locate info on their

mint origin, die cutter, mintage info, etc. It seems to be an area that doesn't have a lot of easily obtainable history on.
