Seems like it's a good time to officially join up...

Hello all,
(I apologize in advance for being long-winded and the overuse of parantheses) As many of you before me, I have been a pretty religious lurker of this board for over a year (I creepily feel like I know some of you guys--I often wake up at night thinking things like "Jeff, come on... a new packgeek rip is well overdue." and "Oh, that rascal Lee is so incorrigible!"). I have always talked myself out of posting before because I've been intimidated by some of the amazing things in you guys' collections and my lack of expertise. Having seen the inspiring fellowship in the last day or so over the wonderful news that an invaluable member of the community is sticking around, I was inspired to finally take the plunge and officially become one of you. A little backstory... I collected mostly in my childhood, which, unfortunately like a lot of you, was from about '80-'96. About a year and a half ago, my brother and I rediscovered the hobby and are loving it more than ever. Each and every week my wife allows us to have vintage rip night (along with a few brews). On better weeks it might be a '78 box and a couple of cheapies, and on lean weeks a box of '89 UD HI and more cheapies... Doesn't matter we absolutely love it--- again!!! Discovering this board has definitely contributed to my falling in love again with the hobby of my youth (not to mention inspired us to send our first PSA sub next week). I may not have the quickest wit, or near the best collection (or acess to a great scanner), but I hope you guys will accept me even if I'm a little shy at first. And despite it not being a great day in Razorback country (how could you DGB?!?!), I hope to learn a lot from you guys, and just maybe, every now and then, contribute a little something to the greatest forum out there. Here's to ya...

Blackie: Absolutely love to hear there's a fellow Razorbacker in the house! WPS!!!
prthd: Ha... Understood... our first 100 card sub is not completely finalized but it includes some 75 mini, 78, 79, 80 baseball and some 78-86 football. Can't wait. It's because of this board we've changed over from BVG/BGS!
pmcollectour: You got it! (I proudly say as others are completely annoyed at the only conference wherein members openly root for rivals!!)
Sean: Bad Scott experience?
Macros: I know this is kinda weird but nice to meet ya and I knew you'd say that
Enjoy the board.

Those games in the mid 90's were classics.
I wish Pelprey had worked out but know from experience(UK vs UAB in the NCAA tourney) Coach Anderson will win big at Arkansas.
So glad you guys bust packs together and spend some quality time together.
Rodney
I only have one question then I'll hang up and listen. If you were an ALT, which member would you have been?
Welcome aboard.

This was a great introduction, I'm glad you got a feel for the boards before joining, and this is a great example of what you do when join.
Especially if you are going to interact with people for the first time. It's just plain weird some of these newbies/alt's whatever they are using peoples first names and responding to personal posts etc.
Enough this is Positive 2012, it's Fabulous February, the Patriots are about to win the Super Bowl.... Tom's 5th visit in 11 years, the guy's just alright for me..
Enjoy Scott! Oh yeah and when you can take some pics if you don't have a scanner. We'll walk you through how to post. When I started back 3 years ago some of those high number upper deck's you speak of where my best cards!

LOVE to see all my SEC bros around (and even another Hog avatar?! wow!) Obviously love the Adams, Blackie!
80scollector: Some of those games stick in my memory as some of the most thrilling memories of my teens. And some the most heartbreaking (looking at you SEC tourney overtime loss). I obviously love Mike Anderson, but do regret that things didn't work out with Pel. If it had been anyone but Anderson I might have liked to have given the ole Ginger 1 more year. Thanks for the words about quality time over cards, as judging from your great vids, you know firsthand. And yes the hobby has actually helped to heal what had become a distant relationship with my brother, so I know I now owe a great deal to it.
Rodney: Love the Ugga. FYI I did carefully choose the word "allow," in that sentence about my wife
Chad: I've always hated when people say this phrase, but, I'm not going there
Macros: Sorry to say I "hate" Auburn and Tennessee the most, so last year was a great year! (in football anyway)
Micron: Thanks for the kind words. I'm sure one of you less jaded guys will one day have to show me how to upload a photo/scan for the thousandth time! (sorry) And I'm not quite sure if you're being sarcastic or what about the UD HI... Nolan Ryan w/football IS STILL the crown jewel of my collection
Welcome to the boards! Wow, I hadn't noticed there were so many SEC fans.

That was a great introduction Scott. Thanks for sharing.
Of course, as Jim (MacrosB) said I'm totally against the ripping of defenseless packs particularly from the 70's.
As you know, there are a lot of great guys on here that are always happy to help.
Looking forward to your posts, you are a lurker no more.
