Just bought and ripped a pack. I normally don't rip or purchase packs but I saw them today and couldn't resist. I will post scans of my rippage in a few...
I would consider a box or two if they stopped the multiple series, update, and like sets. Put all the cards in one series and put the updates back in set format only. I know I am not their target so they would be foolish to listen to me, but the Topps set use to be a nice small project, now it seems more a commitment.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

I agree, I loved the traded set in set form. Then they started adding one RC auto per set and that was a great idea. I wish they would of added 1 Chrome refractor per Chrome Traded set. That would of been awesome. Imagine the likes of a Miggy Chrome Traded refractor, or Sabathia. I believe if Topps would of done the 1 refractor per Traded set, some would of become staples in the hobby. As in top 25 in the modern era.
Opened one jumbo box -- got the rally squirrel and would be thrilled to move it on out
Plano, Tx. Card Show #5, Sunday March 6, 2016 at Adat Chaverim (Northeast Corner Independence and Spring Creek) in Plano Tx 9Am to 4 PM. See you there!
Okay, finally got around to sorting through the cards... and the hunt for variations is on!
Bad thing about scanning over each card to look for variations...
Yo Topps... the Melky Cabrera card... you couldn't airbrush that out???
I don't use photobucket, so maybe someone else will be inclined to post a scan... albeit, not sure why anyone would want to see it... but let's just say, there is a rare C3P0 card of the same nature!
I normally only buy vintage cards, but something came over me when I went to the card shop today, and decided to splurge and bought 4 hobby boxes. Last time I ever do that. Not one single auto card, only 1 serial #'d card, and the biggest name relic card I got was Jason Werth. I guess you win some and lose some, but I think I will stick with the vintage stuff from now on.
I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. Collecting: post world war II HOF rookie 76 topps gem mint 10 commons 9 stars Arenado purple refractors(Rockies) Red (Cardinals) successful deals with Keevan, Grote15, 1954, mbogoman
If anyone has any Mets-Phillies-Yankees for sale in bulk, please PM me. I'm looking for some cards for kids at school. Of course I'm looking for the cards that are "worthless", nothing of real value. Thanks.
What's the deal with the Lackey rainbow card? Is this a confirmed SP or just a printing flaw? I'd be curious to the code numbers on the bottom of that card (already emailed a seller on ebay). Much like with the 2011 Topps Heritage Green Tints and the 2011 Topps Sparkle cards they have different code #s than their base counterparts.
<< <i>So whats with the new error found on the Jeter card? Stats on back has 3B listed twice on some example... H - 3B - 3B - HR - Etc etc >>
If you look at the backs of the non-pitcher cards, about half of them have the 3b 3b error. Mantle #7 is like that too, but there are a lot of others as well.

There is a second rainbow Lackey card on ebay now and it is exactly the same as the first one so maybe it's not a print defect. I'll see if I can get the seller to look at the code. Did you go to Triple Cards in Plano yesterday?

Beckett sells cards for clients. I've never done it before myself, but it's my understanding that the commission is pretty high. They advertise the auctions on Beckett.com though so that helps.

Again confused on so many levels. BGS knows thats Gem Mint and Pristine bring top dollar so why would they give cards a 9 when they know they are going to auction it. They will make a higher commision being a 9.5 or 10. BGS is so backwards
<< <i>BGS knows thats Gem Mint and Pristine bring top dollar so why would they give cards a 9 when they know they are going to auction it. They will make a higher commision being a 9.5 or 10. BGS is so backwards >>
So, is your question "why isn't BGS being corrupt?"
That's what the seller of the 'rainbow' Lackey card emailed me. That's the code on every other one of my regular ol' base cards. This is not a SP. Perhaps some sort of printing flaw or a seller trying to pull a fast one.

Understood, but prthd stated that he was confused. I'm just not sure what he's confused about. Is he confused because Beckett gave a 9 subgrade, or what?

I am not a serial ripper, but I have been known to indulge occasionally, particularly with Topps because I anticipate people coming in with want lists to finish sets. Happened to pull this today:
2nd year in a row I pulled a Platinum, pulled this one last year:

I picked up a hobby and a jumbo box today - rippage for me in about 3 hours
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

This was meant for your box.
Got murdered with 2 regular boxes and bought 10 packs from another store while picking up supplies. This was in the ten packs.
Stop now, it's not getting any better.
CDsNuts, 1/9/15
Mike Leake #308 (at the top of the dugout acting like he's going to fight the mascot)
As for hits, nothing special
2 thick WS pin cards: Paul Molitor & Tim Lincecum
1 thick Retired Ring card: Frank Robinson
3 Autos: Chris Sale, Madison Bumgarner & Matt Garza
3 GU Jersey Cards: Stephen Strasburg, Don Mattingly & Adam Dunn
I also pulled 1 of the black/blue/grey? parallels... David Price 61/61
No rally squirrel, no Pujols & no Reyes... oh well.
Made it through the hobby box so far. All sorted. Only 1 double in the box (not a variation) and 1 double that was a variation (pie face)
no auto, just a GU
here are a few scans of the inserts and stuff
and the 87 minis:
the ring cards are pretty cool. Thick and heavy too - the chicks are gonna dig these
Dodgers collection scans | Brett Butler registry | 1978 Dodgers - straight 9s, homie
<< <i># to 736 - How'd they come up with that #? LOL >>
I was wondering the same thing when I got my thick hits!
PS - That Mantle ring is selling for some decent cash on eBay... well, decent for what it is!
<< <i>Opened one jumbo box -- got the rally squirrel and would be thrilled to move it on out >>
Lucky son of a gun. Put it on eBay quick, the prices dropped from $300 to $200 today it seems.
It has been ATROCIOUS the last year or two.
Only an idiot would have a message board signature.
The Mantle card is killer! Sweet.
Thanx for the welcome back BTW!

Linkage with pictures and a checklist of all the variations
And the info from trusty Baseball Cardpedia
I pulled a Leak variation in one of my boxes today. Looking for others. I also pulled these 2 bad boys:
As well as a Jordan Zimmerman auto, a CarGo jersey swatch (w/purple stripe), and a Buster Posey jersey card.
