edit: The following comment is now obsolete. The caption has been changed.

Scapa Flow is not a ship. It is a location in Scotland where the Germans sank their interned WWI fleet. By the terms of the internment, the German commander was kept a day in the dark on current news. He did not know the Armistice had been extended at the last moment (unless he had clandestine radio).

    You've been busy.

Say, Woodrow Wilson looks cool in a suit of armor.

Funny how the satire on the reverse of the first piece could still arguably be applicable to us today.

I have enjoyed these medals for some time now and have so far resisted temptation to start another collection. The pure details are just impossible to describe. If some one were to start collecting these--where do you find them--are there books listing them--and what kind of prices would I be talking about spending. You know--just in case one were to start collecting them.

I am relatively new at this and went through the same thought process. Prices run from $50 to $1000+ per medal depending on scarcity.

Cacheman's site is a great place to start - LINK

    Thanks for the plug Zohar.

A warning to visitors though. We are experiencing growing pains and the site is running very badly, latency (slowness to connect) is the primary problem. I will be moving the sites to a VPS (virtual private server) next week where I should regain the speed and connectivity. My custom build is too robust for competing with multiple other web sites in a shared hosting mode. I now see that this environment won't cut it and I need 'my own space', hence the VPS.

Once moved, both the museum site and the sales site should be up and ready for business. I'll post when it gets done.

That's a nice piece. I was eye-balling it earlier in the week when it first appeared, then I checked in to buy it later, it was gone.

I've bought a few from J. Pater in the past. He's a reliable dealer.

I don't think I will ever collect these but I really enjoy looking at them. I think I see a new feature every time I look at a picture. Thanks for the postings (and of course Cacheman for his wonderful site).
