Real Mail Notification form the PO

messydeskmessydesk Posts: 20,758 ✭✭✭✭✭
Late last week, there was a notice in my PO box that said that the PO box rates were going up on the 1/22 like many other rates, but it also mentioned something I've been wanting for a long time, "Real Mail Notification."

You can sign up to receive a text or e-mail whenever something is delivered to your PO Box. I assume this is limited to items with tracking numbers on them, but it sure will let me optimize trips a bit. It's also limited to participating post offices, so hopefully mine will be participating soon. I can't find any further info on the USPS site about it, though.

Oh, and it's free.

I am excited about that, and the "use the post office's address as a physical address" feature too.
Now you can have anything shipped to your PO box, plus as a business you look more legit with a physical address.
Not sure if that's free or not.

I actually saw a decrease in shipping cost on many of my low value items that I send First Class with Delivery Confirmation since now they don't charge extra for the DC.

I've been using the street address of the P.O. branch that hosts my box for about a year, which I feel helps to make certain that shipments reach my box. Only problem with advertising the street address(as a suffix to the box address) is when the phone calls come in from the geniuses wandering by the branch and asking "Where is your store?" image
