52 Mantle at a reasonable price

Check out the listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320837444202&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

I've inquired to the seller and offered full price if he'd do it in person. Offered to meet him at his bank so that they could verify
the cashier's check. Seller will only allow Paypal. I strongly suspect he does not own the card as his EBay history shows no
signs of any high ticket items or BB cards.

Thoughts ??

As usual, I have no real input on the topic at hand, but I don't think it's customary for members with optimistic user names to start posts in the middle of drama queen Sunday.
  • Difficult to say with something like a 52 Mantle which is an iconic card. That means that even noncollectors would have an interest in picking up one of these. If you are interested, perhaps you should try to meet him in person, and tell him that after viewing the card, you'd pay him via Paypal immediately. (If you both have smartphones, it should be easy to do.) As with any transaction like this, you'd want to meet in a public place with a lot of people, to prevent robberies like what happens on Craigslist occasionally.

Why sell a card for $1,000 less than it is worth and to add ebay and paypal fees on top of that????? It is smelling foul to me.

The front scan is the identical front scan that VCP is showing for the 11/15/10 sale of the card. The back scan's a different size from the front and looks to be of a different card. The 3rd and 4th scans are useless. The card has sold so if it's to a board member the "What did I get myself into" thread will be up shortly.

from video games to 52 mantles? Don't even consider it

  • I wish the listing had zoom....
ebay should require mandatory zoom on all items over $1000...

  • BUSTED !!

Toy'd with the guy for a couple of hours and nailed him.
Serial# is legit, card and PSA label are fake. I had him send me a photo with his EBAY ID, written on a piece of paper,
next to the card. He sent it and the serial number was correct, but it's very different than the image he stole from VCP.
If you let me know how to upload an image from my PC, I'll attach what he sent. It's COMICAL !!

BTW the way, his name is Jeremy Felenchak and goes with two locations, Manchester Center, VT and Sacromento, CA.
    His EBAY ID is planetexpressdeliveryship.

If the card was legit, I would have scheduled a quick business trip to CA and picked it up in person. I'll post the full E-Mail trail
to show how "stupid" this punk is.
  • I also verified that the "purchaser" on Nov 15th, 2010 was still in possession of the card, and, he was.
Now he's aware that there are counterfeits out there with the same serial #

Your pics aren't showing up. Try putting them here http://imagevenue.com/.
  • Hey Rick,

In regards to your "wish EBAY required zoom on auctions over $1000". There are plenty of desktop tools that will let you zoom in, even if
it's not part of the listing. I use a product called "Snag-It". VERY cheap and VERY effective. Let's you take a snapshot, save it, then re-open
with a Windows Image viewer and zoom in and out. Highly recommended

I don't think that's the same thing. Ebay's zoom feature allows you to essentially see a larger photo without losing quality.

You say it's cheap, but why pay ANY money for Snag-It? Unless, I'm missing something, taking a screen shot, or using Firefox's zoom feature will do the same thing for free (and it's faster).
