Israel's First Coin - 25 Mils, Aluminum

Completed the set for the Prutah series along with the 25 Mils Aluminum and varieties. Typically comes in with bagmarks/hairlines given the soft surfaces. I thought I would share. Sigline has the complete set.

1948 - Ultra Rare Coin in MS Grade. Short Lived Coin, minted under difficult war of independence conditions. Mintage: 42,650."Open" Clam above "25 Mils".

These are scarce in high grade indeed due to the aluminum - the '48 is the rarest I remember and an MS63 is an amazing grade for that 1st official coin minted for the newly declared State of Israel.

AS best as I can remember a coin dealer, back in the day, was selling the 1948 and 1949 for about 50 cents each. I bought a 1948.
