Colorful Mercury Dime

I read Mark Goodman's book, Numismatic Photography, got a copy stand, and started experimenting. What do you think?

Thanks!

That is a beautiful coin. It is one of the better examples that I have ever seen.
    Thanks for showing it off!

We need a much larger image to fully judge.

Very nice coin and photo! image

Can you describe your setup for us? Camera, lens, lighting, etc. (I've been thinking about buying a new camera)

  • Thanks again! Here's a picture of my set-up (that my wife took to illustrate how ridiculous my hobby was becoming image). So far I've only tried incandescent bulbs (100W), and I only have 2 lights, so that's a limitation as Goodman has shown that 3 lights can be an improvement in some circumstances. I use my daughter's Nikon D90 camera and 105 mm macro lens. So far I've only tried the "aperture priority" mode at an f stop of 5.6 or 6.3.
