Does this look real to you

Ebay sale of 2 1/2 indian.

Besides missing the detachment of a jewelry loop, the seller missed that this coin has metal in other places it does not belong.

He noted the extra gold in his description. He thinks it was probably used as a pendant at one time. Looks real to me.

I think it looks suspicious. I've owned more than a few.

The area behind the pigtail and on the neck is raised, looks like a "C" on its side. The pigtail lacks the definition. The pock marks and/or pimple in the neck. The badly worn feather braid compared to cheek and tassel wear, lack of definition in feathers, outside of the abrasions. The lack of detail in the eagles chest and neck feathers when compared to the wing feather wear.

Look again or maybe its his photo

This series is very heavily counterfeited and it's very risky to buy them raw, especially on eBay.

Gold is real value for the money. Return priveleges are real value for the buyer. At the current price and with the "extra" metal which is probably 14K solder... a chemical test would tell the purity factor. There is no reward without risk and we're talking the exchange of paper for real value. A quarter eagle at $250 seems fair , even if it seems unreal.

Looks genuine to me but what's the attraction? Seller says "Condition: Circulated- From the Chunk of Extra Gold on the Rim it Appears to have Been Made into a Pendant at one Time."

If it's about gold content there are safer buys.
