Real Silver Mining?

Assuming this has already been discussed here already, can somebody point me to the thread(s) that discusses silver mining capacity. I remember reading in the early 80's how much pressure the film industry put on mining capacity...can the world really support annual mintage outputs where they are now when the US Mint alone looks to be issuing 40MM ounces+/year?
