I think someone scored a proof IHC for under $20.

I believe this coin is a proof......Granted it may have problems. There are some small die chips or die scratches at the edge of the denticles near the first T and the A in STATES that is die marker for the 1905 proof, and I believe I can see them in the photos.

<< <i>I think a cleaned proof IHC is still a cleaned IHC. The premium for a proof is just due to a special surface finish, and if that finish has been removed by cleaning and abuse, the premium goes with it. I'm thinking it's worth under $20.
Hi,
I don't think it is just the surface finish. While the value may be seriously affected or nearly removed here, some Pr issues are of such low mintage a premium might remain.
Best,
Eric
<< <i>I think its may be whizzed and re-toned >>
how can you tell it's whizzed based on the photos? are you saying that because of the field to the left of the face?

I picked up this proof listed as a business strike with poor photos for $20 about 3 years ago. It's a PF63RD.

<< <i>Looking at the sellers other Rainbow IHC's and Buff's trust me no one is scoring anything! >>
Yeah, I didn't look at his other stuff. You're probably right, I but I still think I can see the die markers for a proof on that piece.

I didn't even look at cent real close as I was more interested in other items after seeing the username and feedback level.
The seller must have grown up without anything under his bed or in the closet as he's clueless to what a monster really is!
<< <i>An MS63RB sells for about half of what PF63RB sells for. >>
That is probably true for the later dates, but for the middle dates (like 1876) they are valued much closer together.
