Stacks/Bowers auction; how long before concrete results??

I know it's only been a little over 24 hours, but it seems they could have finalized results by now. I do believe Heritage would have invoiced, both email and snail, and shipped the lots (with or without payment) by now. Not gettin' antsy, just want to know what I actually purchased.

Have you checked " your bids" Iin your account?
It usually shows in green the bids you won.

At least for me it does

yes, that's what I mean, the green items don't jive with the winning lots total at the top, and my high bid matches up with the current bid of several that are in red.

Mine are still red too... It could take a couple days and even longer to get an actual invoice.

I'm actually not expecting to see any of my lots for 3-4 weeks.

The office staff is working 'round the clock to finalize the auction results and mail invoices to you:

I picked up our winning lots from yesterday's session this morning, and was handed an actual printed invoice with the coins. I consider this to be about as concrete as it gets.

I think I won a lot in The January 2012 Americana Sale. I have not bid on a Stacks/Bowers auction before.

The listing indicates the session is closed. The "My Bids" section has the "Winning Bid" at $XXX and "Your Bid" higher than $XXX (where $XXX is a real dollar amount). And the little gold cup icon indicates that I am the winner. However, there is no invoice in "My Invoices" so I am not quite sure. The pre-bidding ended at 6 am this morning and floor/Internet bidding began at 7 am.

Since this venue is new to me ... any thoughts?

I really hope I won this item ... it's really cool to me!

Edited to add ... Yes, JK, it's what you think it is! image

In the "My Invoices" section I see:

"*Official auction results and invoices are usually posted between 24 and 48 hours after the last session of the auction closes."

The last session for the January 2012 Americana Sale closed today, the 26th. Based on the above I'd expect to see an invoice show up in the next couple of days.

And by the way, scroll your mouse over that little gold cup and you'll see "You are the winner of this lot!".

I think you're good to go.

Thanks, Dan. Since it's my first Stacks/Bowers rodeo, I was not sure. I had a similar "win" with another company only to find out I was outbid by a floor bidder.

No problem. This was the first Stacks Bowers auction where I won a lot as well, so I had just searched for exactly this information.

To me it only seems shady that you dont know right away whether you won.
The transparency is almost like teletrade

I agree. With Old Stack's, no pun intended, I had an incident where the initial indication was that my bid did not meet reserve, and the next morning, it changed to me winning the coin. That was the last time I bid with them.

Actually, I can see how that could happen legitimately. Your bid was close, the consignor was contacted, he/she agreed to sell it at the lower price.

The auction house gets their commission, the buyer gets close to what he was asking, and the bidder gets a coin for less than the reserve.

Sure, but do they consider you on the hook if that happens to you as the buyer? They shouldn't. If you see you didn't win, you may have a back-up plan for the money and allocate it elsewhere right away. If they then contact the seller and you end up winning the lot, you may not have the cash. Is that fair? Is that how it would happen?

Luckily, it hasn't happened to me, I doubt it would happen to me, and I don't burst through my coin funds that quickly, but I can imagine it happening to some folks....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

3-4 weeks.......you're being VERY optomistic. Took them 6 weeks to send my coins last time......I'll stick with Heritage until Bowers gets their act together

Yeah, I expected to see an invoice by now. Mine still hasn't shown up either.
  • Same here, still no invoice. Hopefully I'll receive the coins by Summer......pathetic
With Heritage and Teletrade, I usually get my invoice immediately and the coins with 3 days.

Well, it was two weeks from close till delivery, so that's pretty good, and, I was actually happy with all of the lots and the prices I paid.
