Pack Graded Authentic vs a Numeric Grade

I see some packs that are slabbed and graded authentic as opposed to a numeric grade. What is the reasoning for this? Can someone request a minimum pack grade and if it doesn't meet it, just request authentic? Is there any reason not to get an "authentic" slabbed pack if I'm just getting it to bust open anyway?

Thanks for any input!

Would you really want to try to pull nice cards out of a low grade pack? I think you have to assume 'authentic' is a low grade pack, that has low grade cards.

The grade of the pack has nothing to do with the cards inside. Unless the pack is visibly damaged, you can potentially pull gem mint cards out of a low grade pack.
