Is this pack ok?

What kind of unopened pack is this? And does it look ok? I dont know much of anything about unopened packs, so just making sure this one is fine.

  • Looks like a cello from a grocery pack. The sugarless gum in those things is nasty!

    agree with last 2 members
  • grocery cellos are wrapped very tight and make it difficult to get high grade cards....
    racks are better....

It is very difficult to tell if this is a legit pack from the pictures. Grocery cellos--those from early '70s are not legit Topps products. I have yet to see those types of grocery cellos from the '80s. I know Fleer put out grocery cello racks, but do not think Topps did. In any event you can pick up a legit PSA slabbed Ripken cello for about $90. So I would stay away from this one

Topps definately did them in the early 80s.
  • I don't know if this is the same thing, but my mother was a cop when I was growing up and Topps did some sort of promotional deal with the police department in which they would go to schools and talk to kids about staying clean, etc, then give them a pack of Topps baseball cards. At the end of the 1981 season (1980 cards) my Mom brought me home a huge box of these (3, maybe 4 cards per pack). They looked exactly like this.

Not sure, but it might have been some type of promotional deal like this. I seem to recall that pretty much every card in the pack had bent corners due to the tight wrap and the fact there were just a few cards in each pack.

Topps did have very tightly wrapped cellos. Fleer started them too, I believe in 83. I have some Fleer cellos, but time has caused them to unwrap abit. I have never looked threw them, just have them put away. I'm pretty sure I have some 83 Topps cellos as well. I remember them being available in some of the small suburban towns surrounding San Antonio.
