Yes I have and I was pleased with the results. The communication with my rep was timely and the payment was prompt.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

    Sure. It went fine.
A couple of items got relisted because I set a reserve.

Depending on what you are selling, how hot it is, and how many eyes see it that actually want it, can mean a lot to the final price.

The one thing I didn't like was the lack of control in the auction(s) the items went in......I would have preferred a Sunday. I think I got Monday or Wednesday.

Payment was timely and no issues. They do take their % and you know that going in. Unlike ebay, you don't have to worry about any feedback extortion, crazy bidders, etc. They handle all that for you image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I have wanted to try TT but the seller fees and the rules seem some what harsh. I also thought about HA but
they're hard to talk too. Spoke to a rep on the phone one time and he said he would send me some information
and never heard from them. They too seem hard on sellers. I finally did a 95 coin consigment with Great Collections
last month and everything went great. The biggest part on any place you consign with I think is your start price.

It's been a year or two since my last consignment to them, but things always went very well.
  • I consigned to TT they are owned by bowers. They seem to not care a whole lot about consignments. Its a take it or leave it kind of deal.

I believe that Spectrum Group International owns Teletrade along with Stack's & Bowers.

" The trading activities of Spectrum Group are conducted through A-Mark Precious Metals "

Now just where have I heard of A - Mark could it be from Redfield Hoard fame?

I have consigned twice in the past. Both times it was with one of their reduced commission deals. I just put em up and let em go. No sense in putting extra buyback cost into something that was already losing. I was somewhat disappointed with the results. Apparently they sometimes purchase coins. Not sure I agree with having to pay commission if they purchase the coin. I asked several people there about it and never did get an answer. Someone did send me the printout of the bid history.

Interesting, I will have to ask if they do purchase coins in there own auctions.

    Thanx

I talked to one rep & they said I can pick the day. World coins you cannot, the person said there world auction is specifically one one day? But now as i think of it most of there daily auctions have a NON-U.S. auction, which is odd that it is called NON- U.S. LOLOL

Also how was there fee structure? was it negotiable?? I also like any coins that sell for over $250 gets free grading image

I also heard "Great collections" is good also. Gonna give them a call & see what they offer

    Thanx guys!

Only did it once; there won't be a #2.
    When in doubt, don't.

With LB next week you should talk to both Teletrade and Great Collections and see which you like best. With GreatCollections in growth mode and being nearby, you should really have a talk with Ian. Then at LB you should also have your buddy on your table sell me PL's on the cheap.

All the time ... fantastic group of people to work with. The guy who runs the place now ... Brian ... is a young superstar in the coin biz in my opinion. Underneath Brian is Gil ... hands down the best guy to work with in the ENTIRE coin industry!! No exceptions.

Send me a PM to discuss if you are ready to consign to them for some added pointers/thoughts.

References to GC here are also well warranted. Ian is great to work with as well and did a great job running TT for years. He also has a secret weapon named Rae.

I've thought about GC but the one thing that has kept me from doing it is that I looked at a number of pictures of toned coins. There wasn't 1 picture that I thought was that good.
Since some of the (many of the) coins I would consign would be toned, that would be very detrimental.

If/when they improve on that, I may do it.

Also, I watch to see if they get a lot of consignments of the type of coin I would sell.....if they aren't that many, then there are likely less eyeballs that bother to check them out. Less eyeballs = less bids. The morgan area is full, but the early copper is lacking.....

  • I've tried both Teletrade and Great Collections. Of the two, I think Great Collections is the way to go. Better sellers fees, and, faster payment.

I consigned about a dozen coins in the $100-$200 range to TT. I got what I considered fair prices on all of the them. Dealing with TT was easy; just dropped off the coins at their table at a recent Baltimore show. I would consign with them again.
