There are three pictures of Cale Yarborough an 2012 inductee into the HOF. In two of the pictures he is sitting in the Wood brothers # 21 Mercury owned by Glen Wood another 2012 inductee into the HOF. The first picture is of Richard Petty. The car he won the race in was under Dale Inman, Chief Machanic on Petty's race cars, another 2012 inductee into the HOF. The title of Crew Chief was not used then.

Cool stubs. I wish I could have attended races back then. I bet it was so exciting. I never saw David Pearson race in person. Living in Kentucky as a kid in the 70's, I never had a chance to get to the Carolinas.

growing up in upstate NY I had no chance to see any of the races. watched on tv when it was on.

Some areas around here were on the circuit in the 40-50's. Malta NY for example. just a small dirt track but R Petty was here

Used to go to watkins glen every year. wished I had saved my old tickets.

I was glad to hear that Albany-Saratoga (Malta) went back to dirt and is no longer under the old management.

Back in the late 60's when Nascar made its Northern tour, it would be weeks and sometimes never that we found who won the races. About the only publication that covered all 60 some odd races on the tour was Southern Racing Motorsports journal (not sure about the name). I remember they raced at Islip, Watkins Glen, North Tonowanda, NY, I think. I do know Jim Hurtibis was from there. But there were races here within a few hours drive we never knew the outcome. Maryville, Tenn, South Boston, Va, Oxford, NC, etc.

I believe Howie Commander is running malta now.
He has run a tremendous show at Lebanon Valley for years.
