I'm not Catholic, but I'm curious why you would hope such a thing. Because you're concerned in some way that people criticizing Paterno are being hypocritical? It's not a strong defense of a horrible wrong to say that other people or other organizations have done the same.
It's fair to say he was a great guy in general, but his inability or unwillingness to stop or even report such an unspeakable evil within his program certainly deserves equal billing with all the wonderful things people have to say about other aspects of his life.

Joe was a human being just like the rest of us, and everybody makes mistakes. At the same time he did more good for more people than almost anybody in the state of Pennsylvania over the last half decade. Theres no denying his lapse of judgement, but maybe everybody could just stop highlighting his mistake and talk about the great things he has done. People who do not grow up in PA just dont understand.

I grew up in PA and do accept your answer. All the good he did do in his lifetime does not make it ok to overlook the HUGE lapse in judgement he had. Ask anyone of the victims how important those "great things" are to them. Don't call it a mistake (like when you type the wrong word on the computer), he by default allowed children to be raped because he did not step up and stop his friend.

They reported his death before he actually died a couple days ago... Was pretty pitiful on their part.
you wanna question his legacy tomorrow...fine....
but NOT the day of his death....

40 minutes to go.
Neglecting to report the rape or even possible molestation of a child to police is not OK, no matter what football program is at stake.
