Anyone seeing free DC yet for USPS First Class mail on PayPal?

Today (1/22) is the day USPS is supposed to start offering free delivery confirmation for first class postage purchased online. I'm still getting a $0.19 charge on PayPal. Anyone seeing the free DC yet?

It is free DC thru Ebay from what I see. If you are printing labels thru Amazon, they are still charging you for the DC. Must be some kind of arrangement Ebay has with the postal system.....
  • How about if you sell an item through ebay and print the postage through PayPal; does that qualify for free DC? That's where I'm still seeing a $0.19 charge for the DC.

I think you would need to go thru Ebay. I am selling items from Amazon, using PayPal shipping and am being charged the 19 cents. The only time I see it free, is if I sell and item thru Ebay, and click on "Print Shipping Label" thru them.

I already battled with eBay and Paypal on the phone today, and to make a long story short and keep out all the CS crap:

If you print via eBay, you get free DC, and for a 2 oz. package the postage is $1.64

If you print via Paypal, you are charged $0.19 for DC, and for a 2 oz. package the postage is $1.45, for a total of $1.64

Don't ask me why they did it this way, let's just say the CS reps didn't know their head from their behind and couldn't explain it to me either.

It looks free to me. Yesterday, I had a line item for .19 cents for DC on my first class packages. Today, that line item is gone and my cost is .19 cents cheaper. I use Ebay shipping because when I go to "Sold Items" and click the "Print Shipping Label" link, that's where it takes me. Regardless of the wording, my cost is less today than yesterday so that's a positive to me.

I'm confused, if it still costs 1.64 how is it cheaper?

Or am I reading what Mike is saying wrong?

Edited to add: or did it cost 1.83 last week?

    Good for you.

A 2 oz. package with DC used to be $1.75.

  • Why is it cheaper now?

The actual postage went up slightly, but delivery confirmation is free, so it costs less once you add the two together.

I was paying $1.75 with DC before. Now it is saying it is $1.64.

Actual postage before for a 2 oz. package was $1.56, with DC being $0.19, for a total of $1.75.

Now, if you print labels on eBay, the postage went up 8 cents to $1.64, but DC is free, so the total is $1.64. If you print labels via Paypal, postage went down 11 cents to $1.45, but you still have to pay for DC, so the total is $1.64.

Basically, actual postage went up 8 cents on a 2 oz. package, but once you take into consideration free DC, you will save 11 cents per package.

    Thanks for the explanation.
  • So one more question for you, since Ebay did something that favors the sellers slightly, does this mean we can expect some fee changes to "save" us some more money?image

You can switch to free shipping to try to become a TSR and save yourself some money!
