Craigslist ad

Hello all....I have never bought cards off of Cragislist......how does this ad sound?

Due to my pending divorce, I am forced to sell off the few remaining cards from my high-end vintage baseball card collection. These cards are all PSA graded and all are from 1909 - 1952. Included are Joe Jackson, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and others. I want to make it clear that these cards are all higher dollar cards.

This past summer I sold all of my lesser value cards ($200 - $2,500) here on Craigslist with great success. I am a very fair seller and I expect buyers to be as well. As a result of my success, I decided to sell my remaining higher-end cards here on Craigslist first before I contact one of the large national dealers. I know most of these dealers try and lowball so hopefully I can get a little more here on Craigslist from die-hard collectors. I am willing to let these cards go for below market but I will not give them away.

Please respond to this ad ASAP with a telephone number where I can reach you and I promise I will get back to you within the hour. I am off work this entire week so I am completely open to show the cards at a public location only. My court date is January 27th so I absolutely have to have the cards sold by then. Thank you.

How long did it take your wife to write that ad?

This is sort of irrelevant, but the local paper reported a few days ago that someone had been using Craigslist to set up robberies.

As long as you know how to authenticate the cards yourself and meet at a safe public place, the only thing you have to lose is your time.

Might turn out to be a deal and might turn out to be a fraud, but if you can authenticate you should be fine. If you don't want them to have your telephone number or true identity, then use a "burner" cell phone, a fake name, pay in cash, meet at a shopping mall food court, bring an extra change of clothes in a knapsack, park at a different entrance, make sure you lose them in the maill, enter a restroom, change clothes, and be aware that you aren't being followed back out to your car so they can't get your license plate #. image Really pretty simple, LOL.

He had me until the stated the urgency of selling items by a certain deadline, only a week away. The paragraph before though, he stated that he is wanting to sell things cheaply, but he doesn't want to give things away, and is willing to take his cards on a national level. You and I both know, that selling cards under at the National, you aren't going to get them sold within a week....
  • Am I seriously the only one who's done good on craigslist? I picked up a 62 set not too long ago... Flipped it for double.

Who knows? My ex-girlfriend used to own a bead shop that went out of business. She ran a craigslist ad and met a lady at a local restaurant (Panera). She ended up selling her entire inventory to the lady for about 30% of the value. Everything was smooth and safe.
