Collector sues USPS for losing his collection

There's clearly some exaggeration being done by this guy but I do wonder how much truth there is to his story:

OK, maybe not but it's a nice thought
<< <i>I'll admit I am looking for a red flag, so the best one I could find is--why did he mention a 1952 Cookie Lavagetto card? Yes, this is a high number, but if that card is in the top 5, how could the cards and jewelry have come to over $300k? >>
If you zoom in on the image in the article, it's at least a partial list of what was stolen. One of the pieces of "jewelry" was a Rolex formerly owned by Derrick Coleman. They have approximate values next to each item. $25k for a '51 Mantle...$50k for a signed '52 Mantle "in Mint condition"...and $50k for the '52 Cookie Lavagetto.
They must have gotten the values from the SMR.

Didn't notice that. They must have gotten the values from SMR in Weimar Republic German Marks.
