NEWP- 1912 $5 gold Canada

I've always liked this design. I already have the larger $10 version, but that one was a cleaned VF-EF. This one looks AU-58 or perhaps MS-60.

A beautiful little coin. I love the amount of detail in this design!

I have always like those too. I have to ponder that they never really caught on in Canada, when people got gold coins they were still using British sovereigns, in fact the Ottawa mint was still cranking them out in 1918ish.

5 and 10 Dollar gold coins were only minted 1912-1913 and 1914.
the 1914 issues are the top priced coins.
    The Sovereigns were 1908- 1909-1910-1911-1913-1914-1916-1917-1918-1919.
    Sovereigns
they are identified by a C mint mark and were all minted in Ottawa.
the most valuable C sovereign is the 1916 wih only a handful known even though a whole bunch were minted. it prices 25,000 and more...IF you can find one.
second is the 1908. and third is the 1913 (I have a couple of them)
I recently missed buying a 1908 from a collector in Europe for about $ 2500 by not making a fast decision. When i finally decided, he declared he would give it to an auction.
he will have a unpleasant surprise. By the time the auctioneer takers all these fancy fees...., well, we shall see.
    tough to win them all...
