Ebay Bid Retraction Scammer?

I'm the current high bidder on Ebay auction #220931982362. A little while ago I get an email saying someone retracted their bid. When I look at bid history, this person has 52 bid retractions in the last 6 months? I think it's obvious what this person is doing and it is VERY unfair. He now knows what my high bid is just hours before the end of the auction. He has done this numerous times. What is the limit of retractions before Ebay will do anything about it. I have reported it to ebay and am waiting to see what they do. I guess I might have to start sniping.

  • What % is with this seller?

Imo just retract your bid - even if it's an item you want you can replace the bid later.

Really depends how much you want it :/

Not going to go on a rant this time. EBay NEEDS to close this loophole. Allow a retraction if you must, but this is ridiculous. This is being done completely against the established practices and these people should be banned, or just have the option taken away after one or two.

52 retractions in 6 decades would be too many. If the strategy in this case is to retract your bid to protect yourself the seller won't be too happy, especially if the item ends up not selling. This would be a great way for one seller to sabotage an-others auctions.

Please take care of this eBay.

This isn't pointed at Joe, but does anyone here take the ebay survey or send a suggestion to ebay directly? It seems that we have all these good ideas on the board, which I'm sure ebay doesn't even look at, but nothing ever changes on ebay or actually implements changes that are more detrimental to the hobby.

I haven't filled out any of the surveys ebay sends me, maybe its time I start doing it.

Sadly for us eBay does not care. I've reported blatant and repeated shill bidding to them with zero results.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • Wow! Thanks for the link Cory. I will definitely think twice before bidding on any of this sellers auctions again. I just don't get how ebay can allow such a blatant violation of their rules. He now has 53 bid retractions in the last 6 months.... and hasn't been shut down? I reported him. Now I'll wait for ebay's response.

Socalguy - Why don't you just snipe all your bids using a free service like Gavelsnipe? It's extremely reliable and nobody knows your bid until the end.
