Picked up some stuff from NESC

Yeah, I know they're deal and all that, but I needed a few raw things to fill out my CC renewal voucher sub, and at the same time some stuff I could fit into a couple of my registry sets. Since the cards cost me a total of $7 or so, I'm pretty happy:

2 1 19300146 NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1981 TOPPS 817 LENNY RANDLE TRADED Card **I once crossed an SGC 98 over, and it got an 8 also....**
3 1 19300147 MINT 9 1981 TOPPS 368 LEON ROBERTS Card
4 1 19300148 GEM MINT 10 1981 TOPPS 187 MIKE PARROTT Card
5 1 19300149 MINT 9 1981 TOPPS 508 ROB DRESSLER

I've gotten more than a few 8's on cards I bought from them. I'm convinced their model is "unless it's a sure-thing money maker, don't sub it". Looking for an 8-worthy common? They're a good source if your eyes are good.

    Nice grades.
I've got some Brett cards at PSA now that I bought from them for my registry set. Cards looked really nice so I'm hoping to get some good grades.

Knowing that the cards are already in card savers for grading; me thinks they were subbed to PSA with a minimum grade of PSA 10 and these are the cards PSA "rejected."

As a bulk submitter they likely sub far more than are graded.

Scans are good and prices are fair. I've bought and subbed a few. Mixed results but that's the grading game. If you are only looking for 10's then you should pass but otherwise there are plenty of PSA 9s to be had.

Yup, and it'll sit nicely in my '81 Mariners set!

Nice sub! I've always been happy with the raw cards I've purchased from them. So what is their deal? Have people had trouble with them in the past?

I'm interested in seeing how you do. So far, I've avoided buying anything but commons from them, as I figure they would submit any high-grade money cards they run across. IOW, if it's a card 4SC would sell, then an NESc raw one must have some issue.

Their "deal" is that they are the raw card department of the graded card seller 4sharpcorners.

  • NESC is a fine source of NM-NM/MT raw cards for set builders. I've used them a few times. Their scans provide you with an accurate depiction of what you will be getting. Just don't expect any huge 'pleasant surprises' (CNote's PSA 10 notwithstanding).
