I'm in need of some designation help... possible grade... and thoughts about this coin, i.e. should she be slabbed?

Thanks In Advance!

Thanks for the reply, but to me, the absolutely uninformed, and very green on half cents, Jefferson nickel collector... it looks alot like the picture in the Red Book for the Small 6, stems version...

But, maybe I'm wrong... it has happened before.

    Any other gurus still awake?

    Thanks!

    Steve

Edited to add... and that's one vote for authentication.

    It's a Draped Bust Half Cent C-1 small 6, no stems, R-1.
It is one of the commonest of all half cents. The 1806 comes
in 4 die varieties. It often has weak borders & die rust in the fields.
Your coin has some edge bumps & may have some environmental
    damage.

Not an expert, by any means, and I don't like the looks of it either, but that could just be what it has gone through. The surface just doesn't look right to me, but it could just be ultra-roughness. Rims are dinged up as well.

I would agree it is the small, high, 6. Looks like a cohen-1. 6 berries on the left, 5 on the right. Doesn't not have the small numerals on the reverse.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Thanks for the help with the designation... I appreciate all who gave comments.

I agree the coin is pretty rough, but the best picture I can get with a Dinolight.

    I'm no expert...

However, I see nothing worrisome about the coin (outside of some planchet issues), and I agree with C-1.

It's probably got some light environmental damage, it could possibly certify. Worth a try, it's got a decent upside in that condition, but don't get your hopes up. I would soak it in olive oil for a good month or so before you send it in. That way it will have a shot at restoring the minor ED and tell you if it's been recolored in the past or not. Usually the recoloring becomes more apparent when you soak it. Olive oil will not hurt your coin, it will condition it and help deactivate any chemically active matter on the surfaces.

I agree that it's genuine (not counterfeit.)
