I have already dropped some of the items I used to buy and I may drop a few more at these prices.
They've raised them and haven't delivered an increase in service or quality, imho.

Already knew they were bad investments but I still liked getting them for my son. I may start getting them a year or two after issue when they are usually cheaper

We are getting used. I would love to see their cost break down on these sets. Actual materials cost, equipment cost (remembering that much of the equipment should be able to be repurposed for other items), and labor/marketing/etc costs. Their profit margin HAS to be huge, else they are overpaying some low level jobs and we are supplementing that.

In my opinion there is also too much stuff being offered. It takes the specialness away and seems unfocused.

I'm not gonna complain too much about the US Mint. I did cancel all my subscriptions last spring but I'm happy to purchase the occasional interesting item when the price is right. This past year I stocked up on MOH and the 25th anniversary sets and have been rewarded. As for the annual sets the aftermarket works for me.

I hate the way the prices change. I think they would have even better sales if they stayed the same year round.

Well...I supposed this is a good time to seriously reconsider my modern crap purchases. The mint is now trying to get the little collector to help solve the budget deficit in this country. Probably a good time to go back and collect the older stuff which is good news for the coin dealers out there.

Done with the proof and mint sets. Though I will collect the ATB Silver Quarters in PCGS First Strike DCAM 70. Seem like a bargain. Not the crazy prices like the Statehood Quarters were.

hey, they could be as bad as the Canadian Mint, which just released its first Silver proof set for $225. Now THAT's crazy!!
