eBay Best Offer Question

I can’t find the answer to this question on eBay. I made a best offer on an item which was automatically declined. Can a seller change his mind and now accept my best offer? Am I still liable for 48 hours or is once the best offer is automatically declined am I now no longer contractually obligated to buy the item.

Basic contract law...must be offer and acceptance...your not obligated..offer was not accepted.

This is one of those questions that eBay thought to themselves they have no reason to post an answer because of common sense.

Common sense tells you if you walk up to someone and offer X, and they tell you no, then you either make another offer or there is no deal.

+1, I find out about Auto decline offers by accident, days, weeks, months later.

  • Consider the decline on a best offer as a reserve price. If you don't make an offer that the seller deemed worthy enough, it automatically gets rejected which means you have 2 more tries to enter something that he would consider. If those 2 get rejected immediately as well, then it wont let you make anymore offers.
