So I kind of like Peruvian coins now

From the teens more specifically, I think the designs are really neat and I'm curious if there's a book or somewhere I could go to get better equipped with knowledge on these. Also, what sort of places end up being alright to purchase these from?

This item looked really neat to me and I missed an opportunity to bid on it.

You might want to check out the 5 Pesatas of 1880. I have no photos of mine, but you should be able to find an image easily.
Here are two medals (my photography is mediocre) from my collection.

I have 3 Peruvian coins, really just because I like those designs, I don't collect them though and don't have any reference books. I can tell you that even though this one is high grade they are reasoanbly available and very cheap. 1907 1/2 Dinaro in MS67, I think it was around $45 and came from ebay.

I also really like the obverse design on the earlier 8 Reales, these two both came from a specialist dealer.

There's a series of booklets by Horace Flatt that covers Independent Peru quite well. Probably available as loaners from the ANA.

I have the complete set of his booklets, The Coins of Independent Peru. Very hard to track down but well worth the effort.

I got them for the information on the Peruvian Sol, information which you wont find anywhere else. But that's just a small part of the coins covered in these booklets.
I collect history in the form of coins.

I'm actually curious as well, does anyone know if the person with the one set of 1/2 Dineros posts on the forums?

I'm bringing this thread back because I'm back in a position to purchase more coins. Any help would be remarkable.

  • I too like Peruvian coins you can see my small collection here Peru Coin Collection As far as medals are concerned, I only have two that I bought as a pair in 2002. I was told they are rare at the time so I picked them up. Then I contacted the Peruvian Numismatic Club and it appears they are quite rare.
