Had a perfect day with my son at the Redwings game...with a HOF thrown in!

This past Saturday I took my 7 year-old son to the afternoon game in Detroit to see the Blackhawks and the Wings play. It turned out to be one of the best days I can remember.

It started out with a complete stranger handing my son a puck as we walked to our seats. We both thanked him and continued to our seats. It turns out that the puck had been used in the morning skate as it was pretty beat up and said "official Redwing's pratice puck" on it. He was beyond the moon excited. We then finally found our seats just in time for my son to catch the Little Caesar's pizza toss box and win a free jumbo pizza slice. Then, returning to our seats from the break in-between periods we found $20.00 on the ground. The day was just amazing...oh and the game was one of the best I had ever seen too!

The final feather in the cap of the day happened in the second intermission as we returned from buying some food and a cotton candy. There in the middle of the floor was Ted Lindsay signing his new book. $35.00 got you a chance to buy the book, have it autographed and meet the legend himself. Money well spent. What a super person. He even took the time to sign my son's newly acquired puck and stood to shake our hands after a 5 minute or so talk (as no one else was around). Truly a class act.

As we drove home my son told me from the back seat, holding his puck, that it was the best day ever.

Mine too.

Red Wings! Love it when they beat Chicago (and Pittsburgh).

Sounds like a great day. I've met Ted numerous times at shows around the Detroit area. He's always been nothing but nice to meet and talk to. Definitely one of the best. Even my wife has commented on how nice he is!

    Wow, great day indeed Mathew!!!

My son just asked me to take him to an Islanders game after reading this to him. And I'm a Rangers fan, but I'll take him anyway. Hard to say no to a 7 year old.

I'll let you guys know how it goes. image

It truly was a great day. I would love to make it to more games but I live 2 hours north of Detroit in Canada. My son and I plan to make it an annual trip to see at least one game a winter. The older he gets the further we will travel.
