Ugh, holiday today. Will PO accept 1/16 label tomorrow?

Just realized today is Martin Luther King day. I already printed (paypal) labels for shipment today
over the weekend. Will the PO still accept them tomorrow or do I have to re-do everything?

Morning,
I'm not sure I follow what the issue is here? I do this every weekend, never heard a peep from anybody and drop off at counter to three different Post Offices on Mondays, or Tues. if there's a Holiday?

CDsNuts, 1/9/15
but sometimes it's locked. This is the one for larger envelopes. I have 2 large boxes that won't fit
in it, and there's a gigantic depository slot for the automated machine that was never fixed, so I'll have to
go back tomorrow for those 2. That thing has been broken for almost 3 yrs and they never fixed it.
They said it needs to be shipped on the date that it's showing.
I also do the labels for the group subs, and they don't always go out the date on the label. The date just shows when you paid for the label - it doesn't have to be the exact mailing date!!!!

BullPucky,
So that means the 1000 or so packages that I've printed out on Sat/Sun and shipped on Mon/Tues have all been shipped illegally?? OK then just call me an OutLaw...Cause I'll continue to be doing exactly the same !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

90% of the Ebay packages I get show a "label printed" a day or so before the package actually hits the P.O.
Most sellers that I know print their labels at night, then mail the next day.

Usually the Airport post office stays open for extended hours, but not sure what they do on holidays like MLK day. Call your
local airport PO and see if they are open today. If so you could drop it off there today (assuming its not too far)
Good luck
Dave
I'm sorry to hear they are giving you problems.
Give 'em hell.
I just made a quick dash to the PO and the depository slot was kind of full,
but I did manage to get my bubble mailers in there (all 14 of them).
I'm going to just void the labels for the 2 large boxes I have and reprint them
for tomorrow. Better 2 then 16.

Yeah, but you can choose the day that you're shipping.
to be a valid option if you are concerned and you live near your airport post office

Bryan, I held my BGS sub 3 days before I mailed it. I even handed it to the guy at the po counter. He looked at it and just put it in the pile.
Probably depends on whether or not the postal employee is in a bad mood if he's gonna raise a stink about it.
Although, usually when po employees get in a bad mood, they just bring a rifle to work and waste everyone.
You should be ok.

Aren't you able to select the mailing date when printing the postage? You can if you print postage with ebay/Paypal.
I think it only crossed my mind one time while in the middle of printing them. I might have done it that time but I just zip right through and don't even think about it
Yes, I printed them all out on Saturday evening and set them for today. I didn't know today was a holiday.

<< <i>Color me confused, but why would anyone use the time-saving ability to print labels in advance and THEN waste time interacting with a postal clerk at all? >>
To get the SCAN form in the system so the items show as received by the Post Office... it's proof of mailing not just proof you created a label... it gives buyers a bit more information and peace of mind if they are tracking the package or concerned about time in transit.

It also gives sellers who are using insurance proof of acceptance and will validate a claim if it became necessary. Without acceptance, anyone could print a $500 insured label, send nothing, and claim the package was lost in the system. The USPS won't honor insurance that hasn't been scanned into the system.
Simply VOID the label (you'll get credit) and print a new one tomorrow or with the correct shipping date.
PS. Are you sure the date on the label actually says 1/16? Usually the label will default to the next USPS working day. At least it does when using Stamps.com
PPS. Around where I ship I never have had a problem with labels and "stale" dates. Officially, they aren't supposed to take them but I've only had one of thousands shipped actually returned for a stale date.
