What did they give the Grant Star, XF 45?

    It's an ATS AU-58

I like the Missouri not really buying the AU58 on that NGC Grant Star.

Beautiful, I love the look of the Grant.
    Many happy BST transactions

A quick grading rule of thumb is that an AU-50 coin should have around 50% of its original mint luster present (50-50). Luster can be tricky in photographs, but given what I see for luster, plus not-insignificant wear, I'd rather see this coin in an AU50-ish (XF45-AU53) holder.

Grading aside, I do like the coin. It has a great look, and any problem-free Grant Star is a good coin to own.
