So pretty, I just had to have it. Apparently has a pedigree, from Kunker Auktion 138, Lot 4534 (?). The planchet put me off, but I was assured that it was not unusual. A quick check on the web seemed to corroborate this information. The weight, 37.8 gms, appears OK, too.

It's interesting to see the evolution of the madonna design over the centuries. Much different than the Salzburg depictions.

Something else to look for. I wonder if there is some work on coins that depict the Madonna? Last year, I believe, there was some documentary on the depiction of the Madonna in art.
