PSA Set Overlap

Over the past year or so I have been putting together the 1977, 1978, and 1979 Topps sets in PSA 9. During this time, except for buying unopened stuff, I have really stayed focused, which is a pretty big deal for me. But things have changed lately and I have been thinking about putting together some player sets (Steve Carlton and Cesar Cedeno) the Phillies team cards, and a set of unopened 1979 Topps Cellos with a star showing from each of the 26 MLB teams. Yes, some of the teams require one to stretch the definition of star.
The question I have been left with, besides is it time to refill my Ritalin, is what do you all do when you need a card that works in two sets? Right now I have a 77, 78, and 79 Carlton that I bought with the intention of putting them in 77, 78, and 79 sets. Would you buy another Carlton from those years to put in the player set?
Thanks!

Normally I do not overlap cards/sets, But I don't really care about the indivual team sets, so I do in this case.
I'm also ranked #5 with my 1963 Bazooka ATG Set.
Before upgrading a few cards in my HOF sets, I had another card of each player for the HOF sets.
It just depends on whether you care if a set is together or not.

<< <i>I don't have enough money to complete the sets I want to complete now. Doubling up is simply not an option. >>
This is pretty much why it's even a question for me. If I had unlimited funds, or even a decent amount of limited funds I would buy a card for both sets no problem. Just wanted to see what other people do with their sets.

I will consider buying a second copy, but for now there are too many cards that I don't have which need to be given priority.
The only times I have ever bought multiple copies (less than can be counted on 1 hand) it was one of two situations:
- Duplicate bids that I did not pay enough attention to when I submitted them with both ending up as winners
- A significant low pop card that I felt the "second" was better than the one I had and wanted to upgrade
And in these few cases I always sell of the extra one.

Lately, I`ve doubled up on a few singles which I would want to keep if I ever let the Registry go.
The opposite of doubling up...
