Questions about the PCGS graders
 of 4-17-04 004.jpg)
A couple questions
Does the number of graders on staff fluctuate much?
Does one grader work one order, or might your order be divided up among different graders?
If a certain grader has extraordinary knowledge of a certain series (say 2 Cent pieces), are those coins sent to him/her?
Are the identities of the graders common knowledge?
Just curious

I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

...interesting question, wes. just for giggles why not throw it up across the street? you just might get a nibble from mark.
We occasionally add graders. Graders occasionally leave. Several of the graders have been here 20-25 years. Several others 10 plus years.
Typically three graders will see each coin, sometimes four, occasionally (harder and/or more expensive coins) five or even more graders.
Our graders have pretty broad knowledge. We'll go to specialists when the going gets tough.
Identities of graders are common knowledge and even listed on the CoinFacts expert list.

Thank you David. Nothing like having the top man answer your questions!
PCGS just hired a your man that I hired in 2005 when he was just 18. Taught him everything I knew, and PCGS still hired him!
